SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (17-18) hosts Houston Christian (22-12) Tuesday night at Bobcat Ballpark for a 6 p.m. first pitch. It is the first of four consecutive midweek contests at home for the Bobcats.

Texas State ended the weekend with a come from behind 11-10 walk-off victory on Sunday against 23rd-ranked Southern Miss. Samson Pugh started the rally in the eighth with a two-run homer, his first of the season, and ended the game by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth. The Bobcats are 4-4 this season in midweek games with all of the victories coming against either Big XII or SEC opponents.

Ryne Farber paces the team with a .301 average, 40 hits, 22 runs, 15 walks, nine doubles, nine stolen bases and eight hit by pitches. He has also hit a home run and driven in 14. Both Chase Mora (20 RBI) and Austin Eaton (12 RBI) have hit a team leading four homers. Zachary Gingrich has recorded a team leading three triples. It is the most by a Bobcat since Dalton Shuffield and Ben McClain finished with five and three, respectively, in the 2022 season.

Slated to take the rubber is Eaton. The right-hander is 2-2 with an 8.05 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 19 innings. Last Tuesday, he tossed four scoreless frames at Baylor in his first appearance on the mound in a month.

ABOUT HOUSTON CHRISTIAN
The Huskies are coming off a series win at home over Northwestern State this past weekend. Overall, HCU is 2-4 in midweek games with both victories coming against Prairie View A&M. When playing on the road, the Huskies are 10-8 this season with the most recent contest being a 12-2 loss last Tuesday in Austin to Texas.

Jack Walker enters hitting a team best .366 while scoring 27 runs and plating 22. Parker Ewards leads the squad with seven home runs and 33 RBI while batting .325. Also driving in over 20 runs on the season has been Rhett Hendricks (22), Katcher Halligan (21) and Trevor Roper (23).

Slated to start on Tuesday is Ben Smith. The right-hander 3-3 with one save, a 5.63 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 40 innings this season. He has made 10 appearances including nine starts with his most recent being on Sunday in which he recorded just one out on 28 pitches against the Demons.

SERIES VS. HUSKIES
Texas State leads the all-time series 18-1 and have won the last two meetings, both of which took place at Bobcat Ballpark. When hosting HCU, the Bobcats are 14-0 all-time. The lone loss in the series to the Huskies was a 7-5 contest in Houston on Feb. 19, 2020.
