Bears Coming to San Marcos

SAN ANTONIO – Tuesday will see Texas State (8-11) host its second straight Big XII Conference opponent in midweek action when Baylor (14-5) comes to town. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch from Bobcat Ballpark.
 
Fans can watch the game on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats are looking to snap a five-game losing streak that has seen them drop games to Campbell and TCU and this past weekend's series at App State. So far this season, TXST is 1-1 against Big XII opponents with a win over then 19th-ranked Oklahoma State that was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington and a loss last Tuesday to TCU.
 
Ryne Farber leads the team in average (.310), hits (22), runs (14) and stolen bases (6) while both he and Cole Tabor have drawn a team-high 11 walks. Austin Eaton has hit a team best four home runs and has 12 RBI. Chase Mora is on a 10-game hitting streak in which he is batting .368 (14-for-38) with seven RBI.
 
Starting on the mound will be Jackson Teer. The right-hander is 0-3 with a 7.11 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 12.2 innings. He has made five appearances with four starts with his lone bullpen appearance coming this past Saturday.
 
ABOUT BAYLOR
The Bears are coming off a series loss at Kansas that saw them drop the first two games before salvaging the series with a 9-7 win on Sunday. When playing away from Waco, Baylor is 2-4 overall with a 1-2 mark in true road games.
 
Hunter Simmons leads the team with a .405 batting average and eight doubles. He is one of three Bears that has driven in a team-high 18 runs along with Wesley Jordan (.338 avg, 3 HR) and Jack Little (3 HR). Scoring at least 20 times has been Enzo Apodaca (21), Tyriq Kemp (20) and Little (21).
 
Starting on the rubber will be left-hander Caleb Jackson. He comes in with a 1.29 ERA and four strikeouts over 7.0 innings spanning six games including one start. The redshirt sophomore has yet to record a decision but has limited opponents to a .130 average.
 
SERIES VS. BEARS
Baylor leads the all-time series 53-26 but Texas State has won two of the last three meetings. Last time the teams faced off was in San Marcos on Apr. 12, 2022. That night saw the Bobcats win 11-4.
 
When hosting the Bears, TXST is 8-15 all-time. The last time Texas State won back-to-back meetings at home in the all-time series was three-game stretch from 2013-15.
