SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball stays home this weekend to open conference play against App State. The three-game series will start March 14 at 6 pm inside Bobcat Softball Stadium.

Game two will be Saturday, March 15 at 2 pm with the finale Saturday, March 16 at 11 am. All three games of the series will be streamed on ESPN+.

Texas State starts conference play with a 15-6 record so far on the season. The Bobcats are coming off a weekend sweep of Missouri State with two shutouts and two run-rule wins.

Texas State is coming off a 47-win campaign and an appearance in the NCAA College Station Regional after winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in 2024. The Bobcats were selected to finish 1
st in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason poll.

Also joining the team was seven freshmen. Through 21 games so far, 25% of Texas State's starters have been freshmen.Â
Erin Peterson leads the freshmen with 21 consecutive starts at shortstop, butÂ
Mayson Garrett (17 starts) has also made her mark on the team early in her freshmen campaign.
Headed into conference play with a 15-6 record, the Bobcats are ranked in the D1 Softball Mid Major poll, rising to #11 this week.Â

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS:
App State comes into the week with a 9-15 record on the season, having gone 2-3 at the Cathi Maynard Invitational last week. The Mountaineers got wins over Bucknell and UMass Lowell last week, but lost to Austin Peay twice and dropped a game with Bucknell.

The Mountaineers have four batters batting above .300 this season, highlighted by Grace Barrett who's batting .333 with 26 hits and 16 RBI so far. Also towards the top of their order is Makayla McClain (.315), Julia Girk (.313), and Macy Hamby (.307).

The Mountaineers two main pitchers are Sophie Moshos and Sejal Neas. Moshos has the team's best ERA with a 3.52 in 57.2 innings of work. Neas has a 4.49 in 43.2 innings of work.
