NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its coaches preseason poll and all-conference team on Wednesday. Texas State was selected to finish eighth in the league after finishing tied for 10th last season.
The Bobcats compiled 102 points to finish just behind James Madison (106) and Old Dominion (105), respectively. It is the lowest finish for TXST since joining the Sun Belt with the previous low being seventh in 2022.
Southern Miss claimed the top spot in the poll with 179 points and five first-place votes. Right behind them were Troy (178) and Louisiana (174) with four and three first-place selections, respectively. Picking up the last two first-place votes was Coastal Carolina, which came in fourth in the poll, while rounding out the top five was Georgia Southern.
Texas State has brought in 27 new players for this year's roster after coming off a 27-win campaign that did feature two victories over Texas.
On Friday, Feb. 14, the Bobcats open the 2025 campaign against Binghamton at Bobcat Ballpark. Season tickets, mini plans and single-game tickets with the exception of the Texas game on Apr. 22 are currently available for purchase at TXST.com/Tickets.
