Texas State Volleyball Names 5 to Sun Belt All-Conference Teams

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference offices announced the 2025 volleyball All-Conference Awards on Wednesday. 
 
The Bobcats also had five players awarded, with Jade Defraeye and Samantha Wunsch on the First Team. Maggie Wash, Nina Moorer, and Bailey Hanner were third team.
 
Texas State was one of two teams to have five all-conference nods, with no one having more than five. Arkansas State was the only other team to have five selections.
 
Samantha Wunsch was named All-Conference for the third time in her career this season after another landmark year. Through 64 sets, Wunsch tallied 217 kills for an average of 3.39 per set which was a top mark in the league. She also had an average of 4.12 for points per set with 263.5 points this season. Wunsch got involved on all sides of the ball for the Bobcats, tallying double doubles in 10 of the Bobcats' conference games. Wunsch averaged 2.88 digs per set throughout conference play, one of the best dig rates of the other outsides in the league. She also had 0.33 service aces per set, which was a top mark in the league. That, paired with her 50.0 blocks made her a complete all-around threat for Texas State. Wunsch had double-digit kills in 15 of the Bobcats' 18 conference games enroute to surpassing 1,000 career kills as a redshirt junior.
 
Jade Defraeye was selected for her third All-Conference team this season. Throughout conference play, Defraeye tallied 88 blocks in 65 sets for an average of 1.35 per set, which was one of the best of any of the middles in the Sun Belt. She was one of three in the league with more than 85 blocks throughout conference play. She also had one of the top individual games this season, with 10.0 blocks at Troy on Oct. 2. Defraeye paired her effective block this season with an equally effective attack, swinging .302 throughout conference play with 129 kills on 301 attempts. She recorded double-digit kills on eight different nights throughout conference play. Defraeye contributed 2.69 points per set for the Bobcats as a middle blocker, a mark that is also one of the best for any of the middles in the league.
 
Maggie Walsh earned her first all-conference nod by doing it all for the Bobcats during conference play. Walsh contributed 174 digs, 81 kills, 20 aces and 18 blocks this season as she excelled in every skill in the game. She anchored the back row while leading the team in serve/receive with serving a .957 in 230 attempts and receiving a .955 in 291 attempts. In her 230 serve attempts she had 20 aces for an average of .31 per set, which was a top mark in the league. She also had just 13 reception errors in 64 sets of work. Walsh also recorded three double doubles this season against top teams in the league, including 10 kills/11 digs versus James Madison, 12 kills/18 digs versus Coastal Carolina and 10 kills/10 digs against Arkansas State.
 
Bailey Hanner was honored with her first All-Conference selection after playing a key part of the Bobcats' top of the league block this season. She had an average of 1.05 blocks per set, a top 10 mark in the league. Her 67 total blocks were also a top 10 mark in the league. Hanner contributed offensively with 109 kills throughout conference play, for an average of 1.70 per set, which is a top mark for the middles in the league. To round out her season, she added 15 aces for an average of .23 per set and 27 digs. She contributed 159.0 points for the Bobcats this season for an average of 2.48 points per set. Hanner had six outings with five or more blocks this season and recorded a block and kill in every outing of Sun Belt play. She had seven games where she helped the Bobcats to double-digit points as well.
 
Nina Moorer earned her first All-Conference accolade as a key part of the Bobcats attack and block this season as she contributed 146 kills and 43.0 blocks. The redshirt junior had eight nights with double digits this season and had nine nights with multiple blocks. She contributed 168.5 points for the Bobcats this season for an average of 2.72 per set. She averaged .69 blocks per set and 2.35 kills per set. Moorer had 10 nights with double-digit points this season to help the Bobcats to an 11-5 record in Sun Belt play. 
 
The Bobcats will be back in action on Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. versus Coastal Carolina in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. That match and the whole tournament will be streamed on ESPN+.
