Volleyball Prepped for Sun Belt Conference Tournament

FOLEY, Alabama — Texas State Volleyball will head to Foley, Alabama for the start of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Bobcats will face Coastal Carolina to open the tournament on Nov. 23. First serve will be at 11 a.m. and you can stream the match and the entire tournament on ESPN+.

Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 14-4, having won both matches in the 2025 regular season.

The teams' last met in the Sun Belt Tournament in 2021 where Texas State won 3-0.

History in the Sun Belt Tournament
The Bobcats have won five Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championships in program history and are reigning champions of the 2024 tournament.. The Bobcats won the tournament in 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2024. 
 
In the 2024, season the Bobcats beat James Madison, App State and Arkansas State in straight sets to win its fifth Sun Belt Conference Championship. The Bobcats have made an appearance in the final every season from 2017-2022 and in 2024. The team five championships in their seven finals appearances. Since joining the conference in 2013, the only years the Bobcats were not in the Sun Belt Championship was 2015, 2016 and 2023.

All-Conference Awards
Texas State Volleyball had five players named to the Sun Belt All-Conference Teams this season. Jade Defraeye and Samantha Wunsch were named First Team All-Conference. Maggie Walsh, Nina Moorer and Bailey Hanner were named Third Team.

About Texas State
The Bobcats finished the regular season with a 16-11 record on the season, having gone 11-5 in Sun Belt play. The Bobcats are coming off two wins over James Madison in the final week of the regular season and are on an eight-game win streak.
 
Sam Wunsch leads the Bobcats this season with 336 kills, followed by Nina Moorer with 231 and Jade Defraeye with 212. Defraeye also leads the team in blocks with 143 on the season, followed by Bailey Hanner who has 94. Anna Blaine and Dylan Gilkey split time setting the offense with 7.46 and 5.53 assists per set, respectively. Alyssa Clark and Maggie Walsh handle the digging with 286 and 260 apiece.
 
Head coach Sean Huiet is in his sixth year in charge of the program and boasts a 133-58 record in his career with a 79-18 record in Sun Belt play. 
 
About Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina comes into the week as the 2nd seed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Standings with a 10-6 record in conference play and an 18-10 record this season. They come into the week on a two-game game streak after wins against South Alabama to end the regular season.
 
Leading the attack for the Chanticleers is Jalyn Stout who has 332 kills, and Emily Fowler with 332. Setting their attack is Ava Wallis and Stout with 528 and 447 assists, respectively. Defensive duties are controlled by Anna Rita with 137.0 blocks and Bailee Earnhardt with 343 digs.

Coastal Carolina is led by 9th year head coach Steve Loeswick who has a 51-33 record in his three seasons at the helm of the Chanticleers.

Up Next:
The Bobcats would move to play whoever wins match four of the Sun Belt Tournament which will be whoever wins the matchup between Arkansas State and the winner of Match 1. Match one is between Southern Miss and Georgia State. The semifinal the Bobcats would advance to is Nov. 22 at 2 pm.
