Volleyball Welcomes Halee Brewer Back as Assistant Coach

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State volleyball head coach Sean Huiet announced Wednesday the return of former Texas State Volleyball student athlete Halee Brewer to his coaching staff as an assistant coach.

"I am excited to welcome Halee back to Texas State as our assistant coach," said Texas State Volleyball Head Coach Sean Huiet. "She played a major role in helping establish our success in the Sun Belt, serving as team captain during her senior season in 2018 when we won the first of three consecutive conference championships. [Brewer] consistently modeled what it means to be a great teammate, and when I think about the culture we've built in this program, she's one of the first people who comes to mind. Bringing her back to San Marcos is meaningful for our program and our culture. Her passion, authenticity, and pride in Texas State have always been clear, and now she'll have the opportunity to invest that same energy into developing the next generation of Bobcats."

Brewer joins the program after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at UT Dallas. Prior to that she served as Director of Operations/Program Coordinator for two seasons at Tulane, an assistant coach at Tyler Junior College, and completed a graduate assistantship at Nicholls. Brewer has helped with recruiting and develop top talent at each of her previous schools with over eight years of coaching experience.

"Once a Bobcat on the court, now a Bobcat on the sideline," Brewer said. "Texas State is where I grew, competed, and dreamed, and being welcomed back as Assistant Volleyball Coach is more than a job — it's a homecoming, a purpose, and a chance to give back to the program that gave me so much. I'm excited to help build the future of Texas State Volleyball."

Brewer was a member of Texas State Volleyball in 2017 and 2018. She was part of the 2018 team that won both the Sun Belt Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The team also won its first ever NCAA Tournament game that season, with a 3-1 win over Rice in the Austin Regional. Huiet was an assistant coach on the staff at Texas State for both seasons of Brewer's career as a Bobcat.
Prior to that, Brewer was a junior college product and competed two seasons for Tyler Junior College. She returned there as a coach from December 2020 – April 2022.

Brewer graduated from Texas State in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media & Mass Communication and with a Master's in Higher Education from Nicholls in 2021.

Brewer will join the staff as they prepare for the 2026 season which will be the Bobcats first competing in the Pac-12 with Texas State's acceptance into the league going into effect in Summer 2026.
