Track and Field Begins Indoor Season in College Station

The Bobcats are one of 13 teams competing at the Ted Nelson Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State track and field will begin its indoor season at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, Texas. The two-day meet will begin Friday afternoon and continue Saturday.

The Ted Nelson Invitational will consist of 15 teams:  Air Force, Georgia, Houston, Northern Colorado, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, UNLV, UT-Arlington, UTSA and Vanderbilt.

The meet will kick off with the prelims and finals of the men's and women's weight throw at 4 p.m. on Friday and resume on Saturday, starting with the women's 3,000 meters at 10 a.m.

The Bobcats look to build off last year, when they finished third on the women's side and fourth on the men's side at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Texas State returns multiple key athletes on the women's side from their third-place finish at last year's indoor conference meet, including Melanie Duron, school record holder and conference champion in the shot put, and All-Sun Belt Second Team honorees Elisabet Runarsdottir (weight throw) and Taejha Badal (200 meters).

Also returning for TXST are Abigail Parra, Kimberly Gloria and Alexia Tiscareno Macias, who earned All-Sun Belt Third Team honors for their performance in the DMR, where they set the school record for the event.

On the men's side, TXST has three All-Sun Belt indoor athletes returning for the 2024-25 indoor season. Chris Preddie returns for his junior season after capturing both the triple and long jump titles last indoor season.

Fellow jump squad members Aiden Hayes and Easton Hammond will also make indoor debuts on Saturday. Hayes finished third in the long jump at last year's SBC Championships, while Hammond placed third in the heptathlon.

The Ted Nelson Invitational will be streamed on the SEC Network+ and live results will be available here.
