SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State women's basketball returns home for Kids Day and Throwback Weekend inside Strahan Arena as the Bobcats host Troy and ULM.
 
Texas State will face the Trojans on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 11 am as part of 'Kids Day' with over 3,000 local elementary school students in attendance. Saturday's game with ULM will be part of Throwback Weekend with recognitions of Bobcat alumni. Both games can be streamed on ESPN+ or fans can purchase tickets at txst.com/tickets.
 
SERIES HISTORY
With the Trojans:

• Texas State has a 5-11 record all-time against Troy
• Troy enters the week on a seven-game winning streak dating back to 2019. 
• The Trojans won both meetings between the two teams in the 2023-24 season.
• Texas State's last win came on Jan. 16, 2018 by a 83-75 scoreline.

With the Warhawks:

• Texas State has a 29-34 record all-time against ULM.
• Texas State won the last meeting between these two teams 76-73 on March 1, 2024.
• Texas State has won nine of the last 10 meetings between these two teams since 2020.

MEET THE ROSTER

• The Freshmen: Texas State has four freshman, Heather Baymon, Saniya Burks, Takeira Ramey, and Melinda Winston.
  • Three of the four freshmen played high school basketball in the state of Texas (Burks, Baymon, Winston) while Ramey is the lone freshman coming from out of state.
  • All four freshman have seen minutes and scored this season. 
• The Transfers: Texas State has added six transfers, including five Division I transfers. 
  • Ebba Zalamans is the lone Junior College transfer joining the team for 2024-2025, coming from McCook as a redshirt sophomore.
  • Head Coach Zenarae Antoine brought in five Division I transfers including Ja'Mia Harris (Kansas State), Destiny Terrell (Incarnate Word), Blake Matthews (Bucknell), Taleiyah Gibbs (Howard), and Mia Galbraith (Oklahoma State).
• The Returners: Antoine returns five members from 2023-2024 to this year's team.
  • There are two 5^th years on the Bobcats roster that have played the entirety of their careers as Bobcats, Nicole Leff and Sierra Dickson.
  • Also returning this season is third year Morgan Hill, second year Crystal Smith and second year Jaylin Foster.

 
AROUND THE SUN BELT

• Texas State was picked to finish 10^th in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll. Last season the Bobcats finished 4-14 in conference which that saw them finish 13^th in the regular season standings.
• After week four of conference play, the Bobcats are 3-4 and sit in 8th place in the Sun Belt.

ABOUT THE TROJANS

• Troy finished the 2023-24 season with a 22-12 record, going 15-3 in Sun Belt play.
• They are currently 12-7 this season and 6-1 in conference play.
• The Trojans are coming off a 81-73 win over Louisiana last week.
• The Trojans are led by 13th year head coach Chanda Rigby who carries a 243-150 record in her career. 
• The Trojans leading scorer is Zay Dyer who has 256 points so far this season, averaging 13.47 a night. Dyer also needs in rebounds with 198, averaging 10.42 a night.

ABOUT THE WARHAWKS

• ULM finished the 2023-24 season with a 21-14 record, going 10-8 in Sun Belt play. 
• They are currently 7-11 this season and 3-4 in conference play.
• The Warhawks are led by 2nd year head coach Missy Bildeerback who has a 28-25 record in her career. 
• The Warhawks leading scorer is Jakayla Johnson who has 255 points so far this season for an average of 14.2 per game. Leading the team in rebounds is Sakiya White with 143.
