SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's tennis will open its spring season with two matches in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Saturday. The Bobcats will face Southeast Missouri State at 9:00 a.m. and then will face No. 4-ranked Oklahoma State at 5:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Bobcats are coming off a successful spring 2024 season, finishing with an 11-8 overall record and a 5-5 mark in Sun Belt play. It was their winningest season since 2012 and their best conference record since joining the Sun Belt.
Texas State returns five players from last year's team—
Kiana Graham,
Callie Creath,
Sofia Fortuno,
Maria Lora, and
Emily Niers—and has added three new players, including freshmen
Chantajah Mills and
Tadiwa Mauchi, as well as junior transfer
Ireland Simme.
The five returners for the Bobcats each recorded seven or more wins last season. Graham, playing on line one, finished 8-6; Creath went 10-6; Fortuno, who split time between courts three and four, posted a 12-7 record; Lora finished 7-5 and Niers went 7-10 across courts two and three.

The Bobcats' season opener on Saturday will mark the first time they have played against Southeast Missouri State in Tennis.
The RedHawks come into the match picked second in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll and finished last season with a record of 12-7 and went 6-0 in conference play. They ended the year falling to Southern Illinois Edwardsville 1-4 in the conference championship.
SEMO returns three players from last season's team, including sophomore Lera Valeeva, who posted a 12-6 record while competing on courts four, five and six.

In their second match on Saturday, the Bobcats will face No. 4-ranked Oklahoma State for the first time in program history. This marks the first time since facing No. 1-ranked Texas in 2022 that Texas State will compete against a top-five nationally ranked opponent.
OSU, which began its season with a 7-0 win over Wyoming on Wednesday, has been ranked in the top five for 17 consecutive weeks dating back to last season.
The Cowgirls return five players from last season, including ITA All-American Anastasiya Komar, who finished the 2024 season with a 13-7 record on court one and was ranked No. 24 at the end of the season.
Both of the Bobcats' matchups on Saturday will be live-streamed and fans can also follow along via live stats.
