SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head baseball coach Steven Trout announced the addition of David Pierce to the team's staff on Wednesday. He will serve as the Assistant to the Head Coach.
 
In this role, Pierce will help oversee all areas of the baseball program on and off the field.
 
"We couldn't be more excited to have David join our staff. The wealth of knowledge and experience he will bring to our program will be a huge asset in all areas," said Trout. "He is a proven winner and has been successful his entire career. We look forward to him helping us win in San Marcos."

Pierce comes to San Marcos after serving the previous eight years as the head coach at Texas where he compiled a 297-162 record. He led the Longhorns to the NCAA Tournament six times, four Super Regionals and three College World Series appearances.
 
Over his 13 years as a head coach, Pierce had a 494-271 record that included a 121-63 mark in three seasons at Sam Houston and 76-46 record in two years at Tulane. Twice he was named the ABCA Regional, Big 12 and Southland Conference Coach of the year. In 2018, Baseball America selected him as the National Coach of the Year after leading UT back to the College World Series for the first time in four years.
