SAN MARCOS, Texas – Four Texas State players were named to the College Sprots Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team on Tuesday. Earning the honors were pitchers
Drayton Brown,
Cameron Bush,
Austin Eaton and
Peyton Zabel.

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must have competed in 90% of the team's games or started in at least 66% of the program's contests. For pitchers, they must make either 17 appearances or pitch at least 25 innings. They also must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Brown led the Bobcats in ERA (3.14), innings pitched (57.1) and strikeouts (47) and shared the team-high of 11 starts. He pitched in 15 games, posted a 2-3 record that included a complete game shutout at Arkansas State and limited opponents to a .233 average. This is the second academic all-district honor for Brown, who also received the accolade in 2023.

A six-year player, Bush struck out 27 and walked just six in 45.1 innings over 19 games including six starts. He finished 2-0 with both wins coming in his last two starts of the season against Southern Miss and Troy. In those games, the right-hander held the two offenses to just one run over 10.2 innings.

Eaton finished the season with a 4-4 record with his win total tying for the most on the TXST pitching staff. He recorded 43 strikeouts with a season-high nine punch outs coming at ULM. The right-hander worked 56.1 innings in 14 games that included 10 starts.

Zabel pitched in a career-high 17 games this year that included three starts. The right-hander struck out 44 as he set a career best with six punch outs against Youngstown State on opening weekend and matched the total at I-35 rival UTSA. Zabel earned two twins and held opponents to a .248 average in his final collegiate season.
