HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The series opener between Texas State and Southern Miss on Thursday night at Pete Taylor Park was suspended due to lightning and inclement weather. It is scheduled to resume at 12 p.m. on Friday with the second game of the series to start 40 minutes after the first contest's conclusion.

When the game was halted, the Bobcats were leading 7-5 in the bottom of the eighth with no outs, a Golden Eagle on first and the batter facing a 1-1 count. Aaron Lugo was having a big night at the plate going 3-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles.
