CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Sakke Siltala picked up his third top-10 finish of the season and led Texas State men's golf at its final regular season tournament of the season, the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at the Birdwood Golf Course (Par 71, 7,116 yards) on Tuesday.

The Bobcats shot 14-over 866 (288-285-293) to place 10th and finish 2 shots back of Clemson for the next spot on the team leaderboard and 13 shots back of the top-five in the 14-team field. Texas State shot 293 in the final round on Tuesday.

"We had a solid week up until the last two holes today," said
Shane Howell, Texas State head coach. "A lot of good momentum for the guys and we will be ready for the Sun Belt Conference Championship in two weeks."

Siltala carded a 2-over 73 in the final round to place him in a four-way tie for 10th. He finished the tournament with a 2-under 211 (68-70-73), which was his third-best 54-hole score this season. He also had 17 birdies in the three rounds, which was tied for the most.

In his last 7 rounds of golf, Siltala has 6 of even-par or better.

Marcelo Garza helped Texas State on Tuesday by shooting a 1-over 72. The senior was 7-over for the tournament (78-70-72, 220) and finished tied for 47th.

Kasper Nyland was the second-highest finisher for Texas State as he shot 3-over 74 on Tuesday and finished with a 4-over 217 in the tournament, which was good enough for a tied-for-32nd finish.

The Bobcats had the fourth-most birdies in the tournament with 53.

Tennessee won the tournament by shooting 27-under 825. Only Tennessee and Florida State (-9) shot under par for the tournament.

Luke Clanton of Florida State won the individual championship after shooting 15-under 198 (68-66-64).
