SAN MARCOS – Daniel Harrold was awarded the Sun Belt Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 17, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Harrold recorded a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles on Saturday at the Tom Jones Memorial. He marked a 13.35 in the finals of the event, which is the fastest time (all-conditions) in Texas State history.
In the prelims of the event, he recorded the third-best time in school history, after he marked a 13.67 and placed sixth.
Nationally speaking, Harrold is ranked third in both the NCAA and the NCAA West Region after his performance on Saturday. He is also ranked first in the Sun Belt Conference and is the only athlete this season to go under 13.70, which he has done three times.
This marked the first time Harrold has earned the award during an outdoor season, after earning it twice during this year's indoor season. He became the third Bobcat this season to be named the athlete of the week, joining
Elisabet Runarsdottir and
Chris Preddie.
Texas State returns to the track this Saturday, for a one-day meet in College Station, Texas.
