BOSTON – Daniel Harrold and Dominick Yancy represented Texas State track and field at day one of the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
"Daniel and Dominick were so fortunate to be here and compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships," said Texas State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country John Fraizer. "By both of them finishing 10th in their events, this will help motivate our entire team going into the outdoor season."
Harrold competed in the men's 60-meter hurdles and recorded a time of 7.73. He placed 10th overall in the event and became the first athlete in Texas State history to compete in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Yancy started the day competing in the prelims of the men's 400 meters, where he ran the fourth-best time in school history when he recorded a 46.62. He then went on to place 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 20.80, which is the fifth-best time in school history. He was the only male athlete in the meet to compete in both the 200 and 400 meters.
Both Yancy and Harrold marked their names down in Texas State history as they became the first sprinter/hurdler pair to compete at indoor nationals in over two decades.
The Bobcats now have their eyes set on the outdoor season, which begins next weekend when they participate at the UTSA Invitational on March 15th and 16th.
