Bobcats Back Home to Host Islanders

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off a big weekend in Houston, Texas State (7-4) is back home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-8) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. from Bobcat Ballpark.
 
Fans can watch the game on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. Live stats will also be available.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Tuesday begins a stretch of playing nine of the next 10 games at home after playing seven of the last eight away from San Marcos. Outside of last Tuesday's home game against Prairie View A&M, the previous seven contests have been against Power 5 teams.
 
Ryne Farber has continued his hot start to his collegiate career. The freshman is batting a team-high .513, which is the second highest by a freshman in the country and leads the Sun Belt Conference. He has also paces the team with 14 runs, 10 walks, four doubles and a .635 on-base percentage while driving in 12 runs.
 
Chase Mora had a big weekend that saw him be named the Astros Foundation College Classic Most Outstanding Player. He has hit three home runs to give him 20 in his Bobcat career and now leads the team with 15 RBI while increasing his average to .279.
 
Hitting .400 with 13 runs scored is Alec Patino. Both Aaron Lugo and August Ramirez are hitting .355 with four and three homers, respectively.
 
Making his third consecutive midweek start is Tony Robie. The right-hander is 1-1 with a 7.71 ERA and 10 strikeouts over 7.0 innings.
 
Making a team-high six relief appearances has been Taylor Seay (1-0, 6.75 ERA) and Otto Wofford (6.35 ERA, 8 K). In three games out of the bullpen, Drayton Brown has posted a staff-high 12 strikeouts.
 
ABOUT TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
The Islanders are coming off a 3-1 week with a road victory at UTRGV and winning the series at home over Abilene Christian. They are 1-2 in true road games with both losses coming at Stephen F. Austin during an opening weekend tournament.
 
Pacing the team with a .365 average is Isaac Webb, who has also scored 11 times, driven in nine runs and has a team-high eight stolen bases and two triples. Drake Kerr is batting .356 with a team best 13 runs scored while also hitting over .300 is Garrett Gruell (.340) while posting a team-high three home runs and 11 RBI.
 
The starter for Tuesday is still to be announced.
 
Earning two saves has been Maddox Thornton (0-1, 5.40 ERA) and Evans Hendricks (2-0, 2.70 ERA) have picked up one save. Both have appeared in four games with two being starts. Making a team-high six relief appearances has been Samuel Feltz. He is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 9.0 innings and has struck out five.
 
SERIES VS. THE ISLANDERS
Texas State leads the all-time series 32-10 with the Bobcats winning six of the last seven meetings. The only loss in that span was a 12-5 contest on Feb. 27, 2019 in San Marcos. TXST is 18-5 all-time when hosting the Islanders including a 7-5 win last year at home.
