SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Chris Preddie was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 27, the conference announced on Wednesday.Â

The sophomore recorded two first place finishes in the long and triple jump at the Charles Austin Classic this past weekend. Preddie is ranked nationally in both events after his performance at the meet.Â

In the long jump, Preddie recorded a mark of 7.73m/24-4.5, which places him seventh in the country and second in the Sun Belt Conference. This mark was also the 10th-best long jump in Texas State history.Â

Preddie recorded a jump of 15.12m/49-7.25 in the triple jump at the Charles Austin Classic and sits in 18th nationally and first in the SBC.

This marks the second time in his career Preddie has earned the weekly honor and the second time this season a Bobcat has won the award.

The Bobcats are at home this week, besides a small group of throwers attending the Texas Relays. Texas State will host over 80 colleges/universities at the Bobcat Invitational this Thursday through Saturday
