Five-Game Homestand Begins Tuesday Against UTRGV

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A five-game homestand for Texas State (14-10) begins on Tuesday when it welcomes UTRGV (12-10) to Bobcat Ballpark for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
 
Tuesday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. Live stats will also be available.

Tuesday: TXST RHP Tony Robie (2-1, 5.40 ERA) vs. UTRGV RHP Wyatt Wiatrek (0-0, 3.24 ERA)
 
ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Last week saw the Bobcats win three of four games including a series win at James Madison. They are 4-2 this season in midweek games and have won their last three including a victory over I-35 rival UTSA last week.
 
Rashawn Galloway swung a hot bat in all four games as he recorded multiple hits in all four contests. He finished with five doubles, five RBI and five runs while also hitting a home run on his way to batting .529. His performance increase his season average to .317 and he is one of five TXST batters hitting over .300.
 
Leading the way with a .359 batting average is Ryne Farber, who has also scored 22 runs, driven in 18 and stolen three bases. Daylan Pena comes in hitting .355 with a team-high nine doubles along with six home runs. His 24 RBI are tied for the most with Aaron Lugo (.325), who has hit a team leading eight homers. Also batting over .300 is Alec Patino at .306.
 
Tony Robie will start on the mound Tuesday night. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 15.0 innings. He has pitched in eight games with three starts.
 
ABOUT UTRGV
The Vaqueros are 12-10 on the season with a 2-4 mark in the Western Athletic Conference. Last week saw them go 2-2 with a midweek win over Incarnate Word and dropping a series to Grand Canyon. UTRGV is 2-3 in road games with a 1-1 mark in midweek contests and going 1-2 at Seattle. This will be the team's last season in the WAC as the school announced on Monday that it will be joining the Southland Conference on July 1.
 
Steven Lancia leads the squad with a .423 average while scoring 14 times and driving in 16 runs. Erick Martinez has contributed a .353 average with nine runs scored. Also hitting over .300 is Martin Vazquez at .305 with a team-high seven home runs and 21 RBI.
 
Getting the start will be Wyatt Wiatrek. The right-hander has yet to receive a decision while posting a 3.24 ERA and strikeouts, 12 of which have come in the past two midweek games, in 8.1 innings. He has pitched in five games and started two of them.
 
SERIES VS. THE VAQUEROS
Texas State leads the all-time series 48-25 having won three straight and nine of the last 11 meetings. Last season saw the Bobcats win 6-5 in Edinburg, Texas.
 
When hosting UTRGV, TXST is 28-8 all-time with the last game being a 7-3 victory for the Bobcats on Mar. 1, 2022. Last time the Vaqueros won in San Marcos was Apr. 10, 2018 by a score of 2-1 in 10 innings.
