SAN MARCOS, Texas – A battle of I-35 rivals takes place Tuesday at Bobcat Ballpark when Texas State (11-9) hosts UTSA (10-10) at 6 p.m. It is the first of two meetings between the teams this season.

The Bobcats are coming off a 4-1 week in which they won both midweek games and claimed two wins in the Sun Belt Conference opening series against App State. Tuesday's game is the ninth in the last 10 that will be played in San Marcos before TXST hits the road to take on James Madison this weekend.

Ryne Farber enters the week batting a team best .370 with 21 runs scored 18 RBI and 17 walks.
Daylan Pena is right behind him with a .356 average while pacing the squad with seven RBI. The junior has hit four home runs and driven in 16. Also hitting over .300 on the year is
Alec Patino at .333.

Getting the start on Tuesday will be
Calen Graham. It is his second midweek start after beginning last Wednesday's game against HCU. The right-hander has struck out seven in 10 innings with a 5.40 ERA.

ABOUT UTSA
The Roadrunners are coming off a home series win over Northwestern. They are 2-2 in midweek games with a win at Houston, loss against Abilene Christian and have split two games with Tarleton State. When playing on the road, UTSA is 2-3 that includes a series loss at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Five players are hitting over .300 led by Caleb Hill at .413. He also paces the team with 26 runs and six home runs. Mason Lytle (.349) has a team-high 18 RBI and eight stolen bases. Also with a batting average over .300 is Alexander Olivo (.345), Broc Palmer (.304, 11 RBI) and James Taussig (.310, 16 RBI).

Getting the start on Tuesday will be Ryan Beaird. The right-hander has posted a 9.00 ERA and nine strikeouts in 6.0 innings over four appearances including two starts.

SERIES VS. THE ROADRUNNERS
Texas State leads the all-time series 62-39. The teams have split the last four meetings over the previous two seasons. Last year saw the road team win both times with the Bobcats claiming a 5-3 contest and UTSA winning 11-2.

When hosting the Roadrunners, TXST is 32-17 all-time with the last win being a 14-12 contest on Apr. 19, 2022. Since 2014 when the programs were no longer conference mates, the teams have met a total of 21 times with Texas State holding an 11-10 advantage.
