Badal, Harrold Named Women's and Men's Sun Belt Track Athletes of the Week

Harrold's second of the year and Badal's first

SAN MARCOS, Texas – After their performances at the Charlie Thomas Invitational this past weekend, graduate student Daniel Harrold was named the Sun Belt Men's Track Athlete of the Week and sophomore Taejha Badal was named the Sun Belt Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending February 6, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Harrold became the first Sun Belt Athlete in history to break 7.70 in the men's 60-meter hurdles this past weekend, when he went 7.68 and placed first in the finals of the event. He broke his own school record and set a new meet and facility record as well.

Nationally speaking, Harrold is tied for fifth in the 60-meter hurdles and is ranked first in the Sun Belt Conference for the event.

This is Harrold's second time this season being named the Sun Belt Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

In the women's 60 meters Badal placed first overall with a time of 7.41, which is the fastest time recorded in the Sun Belt Conference this year and her new personal record.

She also competed in the 200 meters, where she placed second and ran the second-best time in the SBC with a 24.20.

This is Badal's first time being named the Sun Belt Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Badal, Harrold and the Bobcats return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Jarvis Scott Open at Texas Tech University. A live stream of the event will be available via ESPN+.
