SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the first time this season, the Texas State baseball team (3-0) hits the road when it heads to Forth Worth to take on No. 5 TCU (3-0) on Tuesday. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Lupton Stadium.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats opened the season with a three-game sweep of Youngstown State. It is the second straight year that they have begun a campaign with a weekend sweep. TXST outscored the Penguins 37-4 including a 20-run explosion in the season opener, the second most ever in the first game of a year.

Ryne Farber began his collegiate career by going 5-for-8 (.625) with two doubles, scored six runs and stole a base. He also drew five walks and was plunked once to record a .786 on-base percentage. Scoring four runs apiece during the weekend was
Aaron Lugo (3 RBI),
Chase Mora (3 RBI) and
Alec Patino (4 RBI).

Taking the rubber on Tuesday to start the contest will be
Tony Robie. The fifth-year senior was 5-4 with a 4.33 ERA in 60.1 innings and struck out 48 in 20 games including 12 starts last season. For his career, he is 12-7, posted a 4.71 ERA and totaled 126 strikeouts.

ABOUT TCU
Also opening the year at home was the Horned Frogs as they completed a sweep of Florida Gulf Coast. They had to comeback six down in each of the first two games to claim the victories. Tuesday is the fourth of nine consecutive games at home.

Chase Brunson leads the team with a .600 average and seven runs scored. He has also hit two home runs, along with Peyton Chatagnier, and driven in four runs. Anthony Silva comes in hitting .538 with four runs, four RBI, three stolen bases and a homer. Also hitting over .300 is Karson Bowen (.308), Luke Boyers (.333), Logan Maxwell (.417), Payton Tolle (.308) and Chatagnier (.364).

Starting on the mound will be Ben Hampton. The lefty played the last three seasons at West Virginia where he went 17-11 with a 4.62 ERA in 222 innings over 45 appearances and 41 starts.

Out of the bullpen, Braeden Sloan has made two relief appearances and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Earning a save apiece has been Ben Abeldt (2 K) and Hunter Hodges (1 K).

SERIES VS. HORNED FROGS
TCU leads the all-time series over Texas State 26-15. Last season saw the Horned Frogs claim an 8-2 contest in San Marcos. Despite the loss, the Bobcats have won four of the last six meetings.

When playing TCU on the road, TXST is 8-17 all-time. The last win was a 1-0 game on Feb. 28, 2012.

YSU will be the first team from the Horizon League to visit San Marcos. TXST did play current league member Northern Kentucky in 2013 but the Norse were then members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
