Four Bobcats Claim Sun Belt All-Conference Accolades

NEW ORLEANS – Four Texas State soccer players picked up Sun Belt Conference postseason honors, announced by the league office on Sunday. It is the most conference accolades for the Bobcats since 2018.
 
Forward Mady Soumare was chosen to the all-conference first team while both Kennley Bradley and Katelyn Chrisman were second team selections. Taking home the Newcomer of the Year award was Kaylie Smith.
 
Soumare finished the regular season with eight goals, three of which came during Sun Belt action including two in the regular season finale against Georgia Southern that earned her the conference's final Offensive Player of the Week award. Her season goal total is tied for the seventh most in the league. The junior was also credited with four assists with three coming in conference play.
 
The Parisian attempted 33 shots and placed 17 of them on frame. She also recorded three match-winning goals, which are tied for the third most in the Sun Belt.
 
Bradley started all 19 of Texas State's matches at center back and played a team-high 1,616 minutes. She is one of seven field players in the conference to have played 1,600 or more minutes this season. In Sun Belt action, the senior played 844 of a possible 900 minutes with her only time off the pitch coming in victories over Marshall and the Eagles.
 
As part of the Bobcats' backline, the Ogden, Utah native helped the team record seven shutouts. It is the team's most shutouts in a season since 2019. The senior defender also recorded one goal and assist with both coming in Sun Belt matches. Bradley headed home the match-tying goal in a 1-1 draw at Louisiana and assisted on the opening goal of a 3-2 win over ULM.
 
Chrisman became just the fifth goalkeeper in program history to earn all-conference honors and is the first to do so since 2019. She recorded a 1.08 GAA with 20 saves and a .714 save percentage in the regular season that spanned nine matches.
 
In Sun Belt play, the senior made five appearances and started four matches. Chrisman would finish league play with a 0.48 GAA with 11 saves and a .846 save percentage. She came up big over the final three contests of the season with a shutout in each of them and not allowing a goal in the last 319:29 minutes that she was on the pitch.
 
The Belton, Texas native's performance between the posts helped Texas State finish second overall in the standings and as the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament. Chrisman was also chosen as the Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week of the past two weeks and is only the second Bobcat to accomplish the feat in program history.
 
A transfer from Mississippi State, Smith started all 19 matches in the midfield. She scored all three of her goals and tallied three of her five assists in conference play. Her season assist total is tied for the most on the team are tied for the seventh most in the Sun Belt.
 
Smith found the back of the net against App State, Arkansas State and ULM with her goal against the Mountaineers being the match-winner. She is the sixth Bobcat to be named a conference's Newcomer of the Year and the second in the Sun Belt.
 
Texas State kicks off the Sun Belt Tournament on Monday at 11 a.m. against App State from the Foley Sports Complex.
