SAN MARCOS, Texas – Six Texas State soccer student-athletes were recognized on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday. Earning the accolades were
Anna Dunch,
Lily Erb,
Lucy Hart,
Chloe Jones,
Haley Shaw and
Mady Soumare.

It is the second time in the careers that Erb, Hart, Jones, Shaw and Soumare have been on the academic all-district team and is the first time for Dunch.

The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify for the Academic All-District and All-American teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a minimum cumulative 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 90% of the team's competitions or start 66% of the institution's matches.

Dunch started all 22 matches on the backline and helped Texas State record nine shutouts. She finished the year with one goal and three assists while taking six shots and placing five on frame. Her lone goal of the season came in the opener at Rice. Dunch has recorded a 3.86 GPA and is majoring in accounting.

Erb extended her start streak to 34 consecutive matches after starting all 22 matches this season. The junior scored twice and assisted on one goal, all of which came over a three-match stretch near the end of the campaign. Both of her goals were match-winners with the first being against Georgia Southern in the regular season finale and the second being the first in a 4-0 win versus Coastal Carolina in the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals. Erb is majoring in marketing and has a 3.89 GPA.

Hart played 1,819 minutes on the backline, the second most among all TXST players, and started all 22 matches. Along with helping the team record nine shutouts, she also recorded one assist and took five shots with three on goal. Her lone assist was on the match-winning goal of a 2-1 victory at Troy. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native has a 3.89 GPA and is majoring in applied arts and sciences.

Jones ended the season second on the squad with five assists and started all 22 matches in the midfield. The junior recorded three of her assists during conference play with two coming in the regular season finale against the Eagles. Her 1,593 minutes played this year were a career-high and the third most among all Bobcat midfielders. Jones is majoring in computer science and sports a perfect 4.00 GPA>

Shaw came off the bench for 20 matches and played 728 minutes after missing all of 2023 due to an injury. She twice surpassed 60 minutes on the pitch with a season-high 69 minutes at Troy and 68 minutes of action in the Sun Belt Championship title match versus James Madison. The Spicewood, Texas native has a 4.00 GPA and is working on her masters in exercise science.

Soumare led Texas State with nine goals and six assists on her way to being named to the All-Sun Belt First Team and all-tournament team. She was also named the league's offensive player of the week after the final matches of the regular season when she netted two goals in the win over Georgia Southern. Five of her goals and assist came against Sun Belt opponents including one goal and two assists in the conference tournament. Soumare sports a 3.71 GPA and is working on her bachelor's degree in applied arts and sciences.
