Â
Arriving in San Marcos for the 2026 season are Blake Beheler, Alec Beversdorf, Wade Cooper, Victor Coronado, Jackson Cotton, Ryder McDaniel, Nolan Moore, Clayton Namken, Michael Peavy, Ty Powell, Cade Smith and Titan Targac.
Â
"I truly believe this could be one of those recruiting classes we look up in two to four years and this be a program changing class. Each player has a chance to help us immediately stepping on campus to lead us to a championship," said Trout. "A huge thank you to the entire staff on a great job with this class and all led by associate head coach/recruting coordinator
Josh Blakley. We are excited for the future of Texas State baseball!"
Â
Blake Beheler | INF | R/R | 6-1 | 215
Sugar Land, Texas | George Ranch HS
Â
Beheler is a right-handed hitting corner infielder from Sugar Land, Texas. He is coming off a junior year in which he batted .463 with six home runs. His performance earned him District 20-6A MVP and was named the MVP of the 6A Super Elite Team. As a sophomore, Beheler hit seven homers while being named the district's Newcomer of the Year.
Â
Blakley on Beheler: "Blake has massive pop. He was clearing our batter's eye in batting practice the summer before his junior year of high school. For a big guy, he is extremely athletic and can play a high level of defense. I expect Blake to exploit our offensive ballpark for years to come."
Â
Alec Beversdorf | RHP | R/R | 6-1 | 180
Seabrook, Texas | LSU Eunice | Clear Falls HS
Â
Beversdorf will join the Bobcats after playing at LSU Eunice. The right-handed pitcher started 13 games this past spring and posted a 7-2 record with a 1.84 ERA in 68.1 innings and tossed two complete game shutouts. He struck out 94 while walking just 17 and limiting opponents to a .176 batting average. His performance on the mound helped lead the Bengals to the NJCAA National Championship.
Â
The Seabrook, Texas native graduated from Clear Falls High School. Beversdorf recorded an 11-0 record with 204 strikeouts in his career including a 110-punch out campaign as a senior.
Â
Blakley on Beversdorf: "Alec is another guy who we have had our eye on for years. He won a ton of high school games and chose the junior college route to continue to develop. Alec has exceeded expectations and was the statistical leader of a staff that won a junior college national championship last spring. Possessing two breaking balls that spin up to 3,000 RPM, he will get a ton of outs for the Bobcats in the future."
Â
Wade Cooper | RHP | R/R | 6-2 | 210
Del Rio, Texas | Del Rio HS
Â
Out of Del Rio, Texas, Cooper is a 6-foot, 2-inch right-handed pitcher. He was a two-time all-district selection as a junior, earning first team honors on the rubber and second team accolades at first base. Cooper was chosen to the all-district first team as a pitcher in 2023 and was the district's Newcomer of the Year as a freshman when he served as the team's catcher.
Â
Blakley on Cooper: "Wade is a workhorse right-handed pitcher. The first time I saw him throw, I made the comment to our staff that he was a future Friday night guy and I still feel that way. His 90-93 mph fastball has exceptional carry through the zone and he can land a good curveball and changeup when needed."
Â
Victor Coronado | INF/RHP | R/R | 6-2 | 200
Rosharon, Texas | Lutheran South Academy
Â
A two-way player, Coronado has earned all-district accolades each of the past three seasons. He was chosen as the team's MVP his sophomore year.
Â
Coronado played summer ball for the Canes Southwest Senators. This past summer he helped the team finish 11th in the nation. In the summer of 2023, he batted .405 with five home runs.
Â
Blakley on Coronado: "When you find a 6-foot, 3-inch shortstop with the ability to hit the ball out of the park, you sign him. Victor has great hands on the infield and makes our park look really small when he swings the stick. He is another dynamic guy in this class who has the opportunity to see playing time year one."
Â
Jackson Cotton | OF/LHP | L/L | 6-1 | 190
Missouri City, Texas | St. Pius X HS
Â
Cotton is a left-handed two-way player from Missouri City, Texas. He batted .473 with eight doubles and five triples in his junior year. He competed in the 2023 Area code Games held in San Diego. His father, John, was drafted in the 10 round of the MLB Draft by Cleveland and played 15 years in the minor leagues while helping the United State win a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Â
Blakley on Cotton: "Jackson has a chance to be a dynamic of a player as we have brought in recently. His ability to leverage the baseball from the left side and really run gives him a chance to be offensive the day he walks on to campus. As a pitcher, he routinely reaches into the low 90s with good off-speed offerings. Jackson should impact the lineup as a freshman."
Â
Ryder McDaniel | INF | R/R |6-2 | 185
Lantana, Texas | Blinn College | Angelo State | Flower Mound HS
Â
McDaniel is a middle infielder who will spend this year at Blinn College. This past year saw him play for Angelo State where he batted .287 with 38 RBI and 38 runs scored and stole 11 bases. He was part of a Rams team that reached the NCAA Division II National Championship game.
Â
Prepping at Flower Mound High School, McDaniel was a first team all-district choice. He helped lead the Jaguars to the 2023 6A State Championship.
Â
Blakley on McDaniel: "Ryder is a true shortstop. He went to Angelo State last year and played everyday for a team that played for a national championship. He has a great swing and plays defense at a high level. He is a plug and play guy for us and will jump into the Bobcat lineup next year."
Â
Nolan Moore | LHP | L/L | 6-3 | 238
New Braunfels, Texas | New Braunfels HS
Â
Hailing just down I-35 from Texas State, Moore is a left-hander pitcher who has posted a 0.69 ERA in his high school career for New Braunfels High School. As a junior, he was named the District 27-6A Utility Player of the Year after seeing action on the mound, at first base, in the outfield and as the designated hitter. Moore was chosen as the District 27-6A Pitcher of the Year in 2023.
Â
Blakley on Moore: "A left-handed pitcher that throw up to 94, Nolan possesses front end of the rotation stuff and should be there early in his career. He gets bigger every time I see him. With so much physical development left, the sky is the limit for him."
Â
Clayton Namken | C | R/R | 6-2 | 215
New Braunfels, Texas | New Braunfels HS
Â
Namken joins his high school teammate Moore in joining the Bobcats out of New Braunfels High School. The 6-foot, 2-inch catcher is a two-time unanimous choice for All-District 27-6A First Team. In 2023, he hit .422 with 35 hits, 35 RBI, seven doubles, three triples and three home runs to claim THSBCA 6A All-State Third Team and TSWA 6A All-State Team honors.
Â
Blakley on Namken: "A natural born leader, what stood out to me the most about Clayton was everyone loves him and his game. Possessing the ability to really defend behind the plate, he is a physical dude that has a chance to really slug. Elite defensive catchers are difficult to find, so Clayton will have a chance to be a guy when he sets foot on campus."
Â
Michael Peavy | C/RHP | R/R | 5-11 | 180
Houston, Texas | St. Pius X HS
Â
Peavy is a catcher from St. Pius X High School and will join teammate Cotton next year on the team. As a sophomore, the catcher was an all-state honorable mention selection. He played summer ball for OSP Baseball and was named the MVP Pitcher at the 2024 WBA Premier Invitational.
Â
Blakley on Peavy: "Peavy is a dynamic two-way player. He was up to 94 mph in front of me this summer and began pitching within the last year. He was really catch and throw, is athletic in the box and possesses wipeout backend of the game type stuff on the mound. With the impending 34-man roster coming to college baseball, two-way players like Michael are going to get the chance to truly impact the game on both sides of the ball."
Â
Ty Powell |INF | L/R | 6-1 | 180
Fulshear, Texas | Fulshear HS
Â
Powell is an infielder from Fulshear, Texas who has put together a slash line of .354/.520/.484 in his three-year prep career. He is a two-time first team all-district selection and the district's MVP. He was also chosen as an all-state third team on the rubber that saw him throw a perfect game in a playoff contest.
Â
Blakley on Powell: "Ty is another athletic left-handed hitter. He has always been the best player on the field and has the ability to play anywhere on defense. With a throwback mentality, Ty is a gritty ball player and we expect him to fight his way on the field early in his career."
Â
Cade Smith | RHP | R/R | 6-3 | 180
San Antonio, Texas | New Mexico JC | Churchill HS
Â
Coming from New Mexico Junior College is Smith, who is a right-handed pitcher. This past season saw him go 6-4 with one save as he pitched in 16 games and made 14 starts. He tossed 62 innings that saw him strike out 48. His best performance came against Howard College when he threw seven shutout innings with nine punchouts in a Thunderbird 5-0 win.
Â
Smith graduated from Churchill High School in San Antonio. His senior year saw him help the team go 18-10 while earning first team all-district honors.
Â
Blakely on Smith: "Cade is a physical transfer right-hander pitcher. I liked him a lot in high school as he always pitched deep into games and won, but his stuff need to tick up. He went to the most offensive league in junior college baseball and put up exceptional numbers. Cade has gotten bigger and the stuff has really exploded. He reminds me of
Zeke Wood with a dominant fastball and he is always in the strike zone. He will impact the pitching staff immediately."
Â
Titan Targac | LHP | S/L | 6-0 | 180
Flatonia, Texas | Flatonia HS
Â
Targac is a left-hander hurler hailing from Flatonia, Texas. He is a two-time all-state selection with first team accolades last season on the mound and third team honors as an outfielder in 2023. Twice he has been named to the Texas High School Baseball Super Elite Team while also claiming district MVP and
Victoria Advocate All-Area MVP honors.
Â
In his prep career, Targac has recorded 35 wins, a 1.06 ERA, 412 strikeouts, two no-hitters and one perfect game. This past spring saw him punch out 170 over 84.2 innings with 13 wins and one no-hitter. This was after striking out 131 in 63 frames and recording 13 wins and a no-hitter in 2023. His freshman campaign saw Targac record nine wins, 111 strikeouts and throw a perfect game over 53.1 innings.
Â
Blakley on Targac: "I have been a Titan Targac fan for a long time. He really knows how to pitch and has always been able to get outs. Recently, his stuff has exploded and he is now a future weekend pitcher for us. Left-handed pitchers with stuff and ability to locate are nearly impossible to find. Titan will be a dude right away for the Bobcats."
