SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State will finish the 2024 regular season with two non-divisional matches this week against James Madison. The matches will be Nov. 14 and 15 at 4:30 and 6 pm inside Strahan Arena.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ with tickets available at txst.com/tickets. The match will be part of Throwback/Alumni Weekend in Strahan Arena. The Bobcats will honor alumni and graduating seniors
Ryann Torres and
Alyssa Ortega during the Friday night match. Fans are encouraged to wear throwback SWT gear and there will be SWT-themed giveaways at both matches.
About Texas State
The Bobcats enter the week with an 11-3 record in Sun Belt play coming off two wins over Coastal Carolina. Texas State finished divisional play as the No. 2 seed, but still have a chance to win the overall regular season Sun Belt Championship this weekend.
Sam Wunsch leads the Bobcats this season with 319 kills, followed by freshman MJ McCurdy with 263. Those two lead the offense while
Alyssa Ortega and
Jade Defraeye handle the defense. Ortega is leading with 374 digs while Defraeye has 103.0 blocks.
Head coach
Sean Huiet is in his fifth year in charge of the program and boasts a 112-46 record in his career with a 66-12 record in Sun Belt play.
After this weekend's matches, the Bobcats will head to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament where they will face James Madison again at 11 am on
About James Madison
James Madison comes into the week as the 3rd seed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Standings with a 6-8 record in conference play and an 11-15 record this season. They come into the week off a win over Old Dominion in five set.
Leading the attack for the Dukes is Brenya Reid who has 322 kills, and Annie Smith with 219. Setting their attack is Rebecca Watkins and Jordan Smart with 482 and 366 assists, respectively. Defensive duties are controlled by Annie Smith with 99.0 blocks and Jaydyn Clemmer with 358 digs.
James Madison is led by 15th year head coach Lauren Streinbrecher who has a 273-142 record in her time at the helm of the Dukes.

Texas State leads the all-time series 5-4. Texas State has won all four meetings between these two sides in Strahan Arena.
