NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference offices announced Tuesday morning that Texas State middle blocker
Jade Defraeye was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for week six.
Defraeye was a large part of the Bobcats' conference-best 3.33 blocks per set this weekend. The junior led the conference with 2.00 blocks per set with 12 total on the weekend. She was the only Sun Belt player with double digit blocks in six sets this week.Â
Â
Her block helped the Bobcats to two sweeps over Troy where the Bobcats limited the Trojans to a .151 attack percentage, which was the lowest attack percentage in the conference this week. Additionally, Defraeye was involved in the attack with a conference-best .684 attack percentage as she tallied 14 kills on nineteen attempts.
This is Defraeye's first Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Award this season, but the second of her career at Texas State. She was also named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week in Week 9 of the 2023 season. Additionally, Defraeye was named to the Sun Belt All-Conference team and Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
This is Texas State's third award of the season after
Samantha Wunsch was named Offensive Player of the Week in week 4 and
Ryann Torres was named Setter of the Week in week 5.
Â
Texas State will be back in action on Oct. 11 at 6 pm and Oct. 12 at 1 pm at South Alabama. Both matches can be streamed on ESPN+ as the Bobcats look to remain undefeated in Sun Belt Conference action this season.
