NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference offices announced Tuesday morning that Texas State middle blocker Jade Defraeye was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for week 12.

Jade Defraeye has been a force all season for the Bobcats, and she showed it in the final week of the regular season with a league-best 14 block assists. Defraeye's 1.40 blocks per set was also amongst the top of the league as she led the Bobcats to two wins over the regular season champions James Madison. 

Defraeye maintained prolific blocking while tallying 20 kills with a .405 attack percentage, which was one of the top marks of the league's middles. Defraeye's weekend also put her squarely in second place in Texas State history in the block assist category, just five away from tying the program record. Defraeye's defense helped the Bobcats limit the Dukes to just a .194 attack percentage throughout the weekend.

This is Defraeye's first Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Award this season, but the third of her career at Texas State. She was also named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week once in both 2024 and 2023. Additionally, Defraeye was named to the Sun Belt All-Conference team and Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.

This is Texas State's third award of the season after Alyssa Clark won Defensive Player of the Week in Week 10 and Anna Blaine won Setter of the Week in Week 2.
 
Texas State will start its run in the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. versus Coastal Carolina. That game and the entire Sun Belt Tournament will be streamed on ESPN+.
