HOUSTON, Texas – The Texas State track and field team wrapped up day two of the Robert Platt Invitational on Saturday and recorded four top-four finishes.
"This was a great weekend for our distance runners to shine," said Texas State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
John Frazier. "We will take a full team to Texas A&M next week and a week of good weather will have us prepared."
In the women's 3000 meters, sophomore
Abigail Parra placed third with a time of 9:56.13. This time has her ranked seventh in the Sun Belt Conference Standings and registered as her new PR.
The women's throws also shined on day two of the meet by finishing in second, third and fourth place in the shot put.
Melanie Duron placed second in the field of 35 with a mark of 16.38m/53.9. Behind Duron,
Carly Watts placed third with a throw of 14.84/48-8.25.
Junior
Sophia Haberer, placed fourth in the event with a throw of 14.51m/47-7.25. This mark sets a new PR for the junior.
The Bobcats continue their indoor campaign next week at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in College Station. The meet begins Friday and continues Saturday.
The Texas State track and field team recorded eight PRs on day two of the meet and 11 PRs in total.
