SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – After his record-breaking 60-meter hurdles performance at the
Leonard Hill Memorial Invitational this past weekend, graduate student
Daniel Harrold was named the Sun Belt Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 16, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Harrold recorded a time of 7.71 in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, which broke his previous school record of 7.75 seconds. Harrold now holds eight of the top-10 fastest times in Texas State history for the 60-meter hurdles.
Nationally speaking, Harrold's time has him tied for
third in the 60-meter hurdles. Harrold is also ranked
first in the Sun Belt Conference.
Harrold placed third overall in the finals. In the prelims, Harrold tied his previous school record of 7.75 and placed second.
He also competed in the 60 meters, where he set a new PR with a time of 6.84 and placed in the top-10.
This is Harrold's first time being named the Sun Belt Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
