SAN MARCOS, Texas – Following a 12-tackle, two-forced-fumble performance in Texas State's come-from-behind win, linebacker
Brian Holloway was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for week four, the conference office announced on Monday.

Holloway, a redshirt senior, had the game-high 12 tackles to lead a Texas State defense that held Nevada to only a late touchdown in the second half as the Bobcats rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit to win 35-24. Holloway had seven solo tackles and two TFLs among his dozen stops.

The Clear Lake, Texas product forced a fumble late in the third quarter that led to the Bobcats taking a 21-17 lead on the subsequent drive. He then had another forced fumble in the fourth quarter, which was recovered by Nevada, but then had the stop on the following fourth-and-two play that stalled the Wolf Pack's drive. The Bobcats then scored after the turnover on downs to make it 35-17.

Holloway leads the Bobcats in tackles this season with 37 and is 25th in the country with 9.2 tackles per game. He also has 5.0 TFLs, four quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in four games.

Holloway is the first Bobcat to earn the conference's defensive player of the week award since
Tory Spears in October 2022. A Bobcat has earned the defensive player of the week honor in three straight seasons.

He is also the second Bobcat this season to win a conference player of the week honor. Quarterback
TJ Finley was named offensive player of the week in week one.

Texas State returns to action this Saturday with its conference opener at Southern Miss. Kickoff is set for 6 pm on ESPN+.
