SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State track and field answered its performance in competition this past season with a successful showing in the classroom as the women's team earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team distinction for the fifth year in a row while eight Bobcats were named All-Academic Athletes by the same organization.

Katherine Stuckly made up the six female Bobcat student-athletes to be named 2023 USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. On the men's side,
Daniel Harrold and
Grady Leonard earned the honors.

The women's team, meanwhile, earned the All-Academic Team award with a team GPA of 3.12 and extended its streak of consecutive honors since 2019. It has also earned the award six times overall since 2010.

Stuckly and Canet picked up the All-Academic Athlete honors for fourth and second time, respectively, in their careers.

For Harrold, it was the second year in a row he garnered an All-Academic Athlete award.

Runarsdottir, in her first year as a Bobcat, added the Academic All-Athlete award to her Second Team All-American distinction in the women's hammer throw. She – along with Canet (women's' indoor pentathlon) and Harrold (men's 4x100 relay, men's 60 meter hurdles) – also won individual conference titles in their events. Runarsdottir was the women's hammer throw champion.

To earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's indoor and/or outdoor track and field NCAA squad list must be a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

For individual athletes to garner All-Academic Athlete honors, their cumulative GPA must be a 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The athletes must have completed at least two semesters at the nominating institution and be ranked in the top 96 of their event for the indoor season or participated in any round (prelims and NCAA Championships) during the outdoor season.
