SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State junior Levi Wells will be heading to Phoenix, Arizona next week to participate in the MLB Draft Combine from June 19-24 at Chase Field.
 
Wells is the first-ever Bobcat to participate in the event. He is also one of 136 players on MLB Pipeline's Draft Top 200 Prospect list that are slated to attend and one of four from a Sun Belt Conference program.
 
Now in its third year, the event offers and opportunity for players to interview and interact directly with MLB general managers and scouting directors, as well as take part in a series of medical and performance assessments and educational programing designed to prepare them for career sin professional baseball. Attendees will also have opportunities to be featured on MLB social media channels, in addition to receiving personal branding training and access to real-time content and custom video for their own platforms.
 
The La Porte, Texas native led the Bobcats this past season with eight wins, 98 strikeouts and 80.2 innings pitched in 14 starts. His strikeout total tied for the fourth highest in the conference. He recorded 25 punch outs by getting opponents looking to rank fourth in the Sun Belt.
 
Wells had six outing with eight or more strikeouts and reached double-digits three times, including a career-high 13 in a complete game effort against Marshall on Apr. 14.
 
Twice this season he was chosen as the league's Pitcher of the Week and would also be selected to the All-Sun Belt Second Team.
 
MLB Network will provide extensive on-site coverage of the Combine beginning at 12 p.m. CT on June 20 and 2:30 p.m. CT on June 21.
 
The 2023 MLB Draft takes place July 9-11 in Seattle.
