SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State tennis will play their final pair of weekend conference matches when they compete at Georgia State Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. and Troy Sunday, April 9, at 9 a.m.
Texas State (4-13, 0-7 Sun Belt) suffered two 5-2 losses against Marshall and App State last weekend, for their eighth straight loss. Against Marshall
Kiana Graham and
Mae McCutcheon both broke their losing streaks in straight set matches with a tiebreak set. In the final matchup of the weekend Texas State had two more singles wins with
Emily Niers defeating the Sun Belt Player of the Week in three sets, as well as
Sofia Fortuno picking up a win on court six.
The Bobcats will be looking to get its third doubles point this season and to end a five-match drought of getting the early start.
About Georgia State
Georgia State (1-13, 1-4 Sun Belt) has four straight losses, the two most recent being against App State and Troy. The Panthers are 0-5 at home and its one win on the road came in a 4-3 victory against Southern Miss.
Eva Chivu is the only player to hold an active win streak for the Panthers, picking up her fourth consecutive win in straight sets on court one. No. 3 singles player Michelle Ncube will enter the match on Saturday after breaking her losing streak. Ncube teams up with Pragnya Kumar on the top court and have improved to a 3-4 record following their match against Troy.
This will be the third meeting for the teams and Texas State is 0-2 against Georgia State.

Troy (10-5, 3-3) is coming off two back-to-back wins at home against Marshall and Georgia State, limiting both opponents to just two points. The Trojans have a 6-4 home record, with two of those wins being against conference teams.
All Trojans have at least 10 singles wins this season, Hagar Amin and Maria Gulguis lead with 15 victories overall. Line one and three doubles have a losing streak, while line two duo Hagar Amin and Kristina Kukaras have an 8-1 record.
