SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (19-10, 5-4 Sun Belt) wraps up the week with a three-game series at South Alabama (13-16, 3-6 Sun Belt). Due to forecasted inclement weather, the series will now be a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 2 p.m. and a single game on Friday, also at 2 p.m., from Stanky Field.

The Bobcats look to get back in the win column after falling 10-9 on Tuesday at Texas A&M. It was the fifth straight one-run game that has seen them go 3-2 in the contests. TXST hit its 54th and 55th home runs of the season that came from
Ryan Leary and
Cade Manning, respectively.

Davis Powell leads TXST with a .368 batting average and 11 doubles while his 24 runs scored are tied for the second most on the team with Manning.
Jose Gonzalez paces the squad with 38 RBI and 27 runs scored while hitting .320 with nine home runs. A team-high 10 homers have been hit by freshman

Set to start the first game of the doubleheader is
Levi Wells. The junior is 4-1 with a 4.66 ERA and has struck out a team-high 42 in 29.0 innings. The starter for the nightcap is to be determined.
Tony Robie will start on Friday and enters having posted a 4-0 record, 4.24 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 23.1 innings spanning 12 games, including four starts.

Triston Dixon (1-1, 4.72 ERA, 4 SV) has made a team-high 16 appearances in relief.
Jack Stroud paces all relievers and is second on the staff with 35 strikeouts. The left is also 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA and two saves in 23.1 innings on the rubber.

ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA
The Jaguars enter the series having won two straight and four of their last five games. Tuesday saw them defeat Southern 13-0 in seven innings at home and last weekend saw USA go on the road and take two of three from James Madison.

A team-high nine home runs have been hit by Colson Lawrence. He is also batting .286 with 28 RBI and 24 runs scored. Both Joseph Sullivan (.330, 28 RBI) and Will Turner (.372, 36 RBI, 30 R) have hit seven homers apiece. Trey Lewis is the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week. He comes in batting .393 with five long balls, 20 RBI and 13 runs over 17 games.

Thursday will see Jeremy Lee (0-4, 6.68 ERA, 34 K) and Sam Knowlton (2-1, 2.92 ERA, 16 K) start on the mound in the first and second games, respectively. Friday's starter is to be announced.

Grand Wood has recorded three of the team's four saves. The redshirt sophomore is also 4-2 with a 4.82 ERA and 25 strikeouts over 18.2 innings spanning 13 relief appearances. The only other hurler with double-digit appearances out of the bullpen is Matthew DeLano (1-0, 4.29 ERA, 22 K).

SERIES VS. JAGUARS
The all-time series is in South Alabama's favor 16-8 but five of the last seven games have been won by Texas State. Last time the teams faced off in Mobile was in 2019. The Jaguars won the first two games before the Bobcats claimed an 8-2 win in the series finale.

When playing USA on the road, TXST is 2-7 all-time. The only other victory came on Mar. 22, 2015 in that weekend's series finale.
