MADISON, MISS. – Texas State men's golf ended the first day of the Sun Belt Conference Championship tied for fourth at the Annandale Golf Club on Monday. Jack Burke and Harrison Hineline lead the Bobcats inside the top-15.
 
After holding the top spot throughout the first round Texas State finished the day tied for fourth alongside South Alabama, shooting three-over 291. This is the second time Texas State recorded an 18-hole total of 291 in a opening round, the first coming at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational. 
 
Troy is in first as the only team to finish the day four-under par, the only team to finish under. Five of the 13 Sun Belt teams are ranked in the top-100 according to Golfstat, including No. 26 Georgia Southern. 
 
Jack Burke and Harrison Hineline co-lead the Bobcat lineup tied for 12^th after going even on the first day and having four birdies. This was Hineline's first even round of the season. 
 
Marcelo Garza was one of three Bobcats to record a double-bogey and finished the day one-over par to stay in the top-20. Sakke Siltala recorded two birdies on the front nine and had a sand save on the eighth hole for par. 
 
As the only returner to the conference championship, Kasper Nyland rounds out the lineup tied for 38^th three-over 75 with a triple-bogey on hole 16.
