Runarsdottir Finishes Runner-Up in Hammer

Freshman finished behind former Texas State thrower Wilson in the event

WACO, Texas – Elisabet Runarsdottir had a runner-up finish in the women's hammer throw as the freshman continued her impressive outdoor season and highlighted Texas State's day one at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor.

Runarsdottir, out of Iceland, threw 62.12 meters/203-9 to finish second in the hammer throw and behind former Texas State thrower Alyssa Wilson, who competed unattached and won the event with a toss of 71.84 meters/235-8. Runarsdottir and Wilson are Texas State's best women's hammer throwers in program history as the two are the only performers in the school's all-time top-10.

Runarsdottir has thrown 62+ meters in the women's hammer throw in four of her five outdoor meets so far this year and leads the Sun Belt in the event.

Two other Bobcats stood out on Friday as Cara Johnson and Cameron Conyers had personal-bests in their respective events. Johnson ran 24.88 in the women's 200 while Conyers clocked a time of 21.67 in the men's 200.

Sadi Giles was the top Bobcat finisher in the women's 200 with a time of 23.93 while Yancy was the top male in the 200 with a race time of 21.24 (21.232).

The Bobcats will wrap up the two-day on Saturday. Texas State's competitors get underway at noon with the women's triple jump and women's 100 meter hurdle prelims. Fans can follow the live results throughout the day.
