CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Texas State men's golf finished 13
th following two rounds of play at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at the Birdwood Golf Course.
Jack Burke set a new 18-hole season low to open the tournament.
Texas State opened the tournament shooting four-over 188 to close out the round just outside the top-10. The Bobcats recorded the highest second round total among the 15 teams of 299. This resulted in Texas State ending the day in 13
th 19-over par.
No. 7 Florida State is in first at 30-under par with a 12-stroke lead from tournament host No. 21 Virginia.
Jack Burke set a new 18-hole season low after finishing the first round five-under 66, beating his previous low of 68. Burke closed out the first round in the top-five with the help of six birdies, three of them being back-to-back. The sophomore went six-over 77 to close out the day. Burke co-leads the Bobcat lineup with freshman
Sakke Siltala, both tied for 34
th.
Siltala was the only player along with Burke to finish the day with an under par round, doing so in the first with one-under 70. The 18-hole total was Siltala's second lowest in a opening round.
Marcelo Garza and Harrison both shot five-over in the first round, but saw a better second round, managing to stay below 10-over par.
Tom Roed Karlsen rounds out the Texas State lineup and had two double-bogey's today.
