SAN MARCOS, Texas – After winning a pair of individual conference titles and being the high-point scorer at the conference meet, Texas State's
Sedrickia Wynn was named the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women's Track Performer of the Year for the indoor season, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Â
A redshirt senior from Conyers, Ga., Wynn was the indoor conference champion in the women's 60 meter dash and 200 meter. She also finished runner-up in the 60 meter hurdles, which helped her secure the high-point honor on the women's side with 28 points for the Bobcats. She ran school records in the finals of both the 60 meter and 200 meter to become the first Bobcat to win those respective races at the conference meet since 2020.
Â
Wynn has etched her name all over the Texas State record book this past indoor season as she now owns eight of the top-10 times in school history in the women's 60 meter hurdles, the seven fastest in the women's 60 meter dash, and four of the top-five in the women's 200.
Â
Wynn is the first Bobcat to earn the conference's outstanding track performer of the year in indoor since
Sadi Giles in 2020.
Â
Wynn was also named Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week three times this year.
Â
The Bobcats, who opened their outdoor season last week with the Longhorn Invitational, will continue the outdoor slate on March 17-18 with the UTSA Invitational.
