SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off a week in which it played four of five games on the road, Texas State (7-4) begins a 10-game homestand on Tuesday when it welcomes I-35 rival UTSA (10-3) to Bobcat Ballpark for a 6 p.m. first pitch.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. Fans can also tune into KTSW 89.9 FM to hear the action.

Last week saw the Bobcats win three of five games with two midweek victories and one at Grand Canyon. The lone win over the Lopes was a shutout. It was the first shutout by the Bobcats since 2021 and on the road since 2018.

Jose Gonzalez continues to lead TXST with a .405 batting average, 15 hits and five home runs. He shares the top mark on the team of 18 RBI and 11 runs with
Daylan Pena and
Cade Manning, respectively. Pena has hit four homers and has posted a .293 batting average. Having hit three round trippers apiece has been

Chase Mora and
August Ramirez.

Tuesday will see
Peyton Zabel take the mound. He has posted a 9.00 ERA with three strikeouts in three innings over two games. It will be his second start of the season after going the first two innings last Wednesday against Sam Houston.

Triston Dixon (3.86 ERA, 2 SV) and
Tony Robie (1-0, 5.40 ERA) have made a team-high six relief appearances.
Jack Stroud comes in pacing all relievers with a 1.69 ERA and 11 strikeouts. Also with a sub-3.00 ERA out of the bullpen is
Reece Gould at 2.08.

ABOUT UTSA
The Roadrunners are coming off a series win over Utah after winning the last two games. Tuesday will be just their second road game of the season with the first coming last Tuesday at Baylor that ended with UTSA's winning 8-3.

Antonio Valdez comes in leading the squad in batting average (.460), hits (23), homers (3), RBI (22) and stolen bases (5). Also hitting over .400 is Josh Killeen (.440). Leyton Barry (.370, 12 RBI), Caleb Hill (.333, 13 RBI) and Matt Kings (.346, 11 RBI) have all driven in at least 10 runs and are hitting over .300.

Starting on the rubber will be Ryan Beaird. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 2.53 ERA and eight strikeouts in 10.2 innings. He has made three appearances with one start, which came in the series finale against St. Mary's.

A team-high five relief appearances have been made by Daniel Garza (1.84 ERA, 15 K) and Simon Miller (0.64 ERA, 19 K). They are both 3-0 on the season as well. Earning a save on the season is Daniel Shafer (3.52 ERA, 7 K) and Miller.

SERIES VS. ROADRUNNERS
Entering the contest, Texas State holds a 61-38 advantage in the all-time series with UTSA and has won four of the last six meetings. Last season, the teams played twice with the hosts winning each time. When hosting the Roadrunners, the Bobcats are 32-16 all-time and have not lost since falling 5-3 on Apr. 3, 2018.
