SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State will have one of its biggest weekends of the outdoor season this week, hosting more than 80 schools for the Bobcat Invitational at the Texas State Track and Field Complex as well as sending athletes to compete in the prestigious Texas Relays in Austin.

The 2023 Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos will take place from Thursday through Saturday and feature more than 2,000 athletes. Admission is free to all fans to attend.

The Texas State women's team, which is ranked No. 24 in the country, will be joined in San Marcos by fellow top-25 teams such as Ohio State (No. 10), Iowa (No. 14), Kentucky (No. 15), and Missouri (No. 20).

At the Texas Relays, the Bobcats will be represented by freshman
Elisabet Runarsdottir and grad transfer
Grady Leonard in the women's and men's hammer throw, respectively. Leonard will also compete in the men's shot put.

On the track,
Sedrickia Wynn and
Daniel Harrold will compete in the 100 and 110 meter hurdles at the Texas Relays while Wynn will also run in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes.
Sadi Giles will join Wynn in the 100 meter dash. There will be three Texas State relay teams as well:

The men's 4x1 relay is currently ranked eighth in the country after running 39.46 in the event last weekend at the Charles Austin Classic. Leonard, meanwhile, is ninth in the nation in the men's shot put with a season-best of 18.99m/62-3.75.

Runarsdottir is 11th in the country in the women's hammer with a personal-best of 63.00m/206-8.
