Texas State track and field, with five athletes with conference-leading times in eight different events this year, are set to compete in the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Monday and Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala.
Â
The two-day meet consists of 17 men's events and 17 women's events to decide team and individual champions.
Â
Sedrickia Wynn (3 events),
Dominick Yancy (2 events),
Daniel Harrold, the men's 4x400 relay and
Melanie Duron are the leading Bobcats entering the conference meet. Wynn has the top times in the women's 60 meters, 60 meter hurdles, and 200 meters while Yancy is tops in the men's 200 and 400 meters.
Â
Yancy is the defending champion in the men's 400 while the men's 4x400 won the title last season. The group featured three of the four runners on this year's team.
Â
The entire competition gets started on Monday with the multi-events at 10 a.m. Running events get underway at 3 p.m. on Monday and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A championship awards ceremony will follow competition on Tuesday.
Â
The Texas State women's team last won the team championship in 2019, which was the second of back-to-back team titles.
Â
Both days of the meet can be watched on ESPN+. The broadcast will start with the running events on both days.
