FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. & HOUSTON, Texas – Dominick Yancy broke school record owned by him in the men's indoor 400 while Sedrickia Wynn shined in the women's 60 meter and 60 meter hurdles once again as Texas State indoor track and field competed at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville and Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston on Friday.
 
Both Yancy and Wynn were in Arkansas for their big days. Yancy ran 46.41 in the 400, breaking his previous school record of 46.48. Wynn, meanwhile, ran 7.37 in the women's 60 meter prelims to post the third-fastest time in school history while she ran 8.28 in the women's 60 meter hurdles to match the third-fastest time in the event – held by her – and crack the school's top-seven times for the sixth time this year.
 
Wynn finished eighth overall in the meet's women's 60 meter dash.
 
While Yancy broke the school's 400 record, teammate Taahir Kelly posted an impressive 47.08 and registered the sixth-fastest time in school history. Yancy finished fourth in the meet while Kelly was 11th.
 
Ten different Bobcats competed in Fayetteville while nearly 30 Bobcats were at the Howie Ryan Invitational.
 
Utitofon Sam and Carly Watts finished second in the women's weight throw and shot put, respectively. Sam threw 17.61 meters/57-9.5 in the weight throw while Watts had a distance of 14.90 meters/48-10.75 in the shot put.
 
In the men's shot put, Tyler Noles finished fourth with a throw of 15.90 meters/52-2.
 
Day two of the Tyson Invitational will be held on Saturday starting at 11:30 am with the women's shot put.
