SAN MARCOS, Texas — In the finale of its season-opening four-game home stand, Texas State will host CUSA foe Sam Houston on Tuesday night inside Strahan Arena.
These two schools have a split 41-41 record all time dating back to the early days of the programs. Texas State is currently on a four-game win streak, though, including last year's 75-70 win on the road.

MEET THE ROSTER
- Timia Jefferson has become a big part of the Bobcats offense after sitting out a season do to NCAA transfer rules that found her ineligible for her first year as a Bobcat. She's averaging 11 points and five rebounds a night.
- Ja'Niah Henson comes to Texas State after four years at Morgan State. She's averaging 14.7 points per game through the first three games of the season, the most of any Bobcat.
- Tiffany Tullis and Crystal Smith join the Bobcats after two years at Blinn Junior College where the pair reached the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament.
- Among the returners are seniors Sierra Dickson, Nicole Leff and Morgan Hill. Additionally, sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks. Leff and Dickson are the only four-year seniors in the program this year.
WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE
- Texas State may have a new look this season but the players on its team have a wealth of experience.
- Of the 12 players, there are just two freshmen and of the 10 non-freshmen, eight of them have played at Texas State or another four-year college prior to coming to Texas State.
- With the exception of sophomore Kennedy Claybrooks, seven of the eight four-year college attendees have played in at least 30 games in their careers, with an average of 69.86 games played each.
UPCOMING MILESTONES
- Despite the year just getting underway, there are some career milestones on the horizon.
- Graduate transfer Ja'Niah Henson is nearing the 1,000 point club after finishing her four years at Morgan State and three games at Texas State she sits with 977 points in 97 appearances.
- Graduate Timia Jefferson is also nearing in on the 1,000 point club. The Houston Christian transfer had 902 points in three years for HCU where she averaged 12.5 points per game in her 72 appearances. She now has 936 career points after three games with Texas State.
EARLY RANKINGS
- Tiffany Tullis is currently ranked No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference for defensive rebounds per game with 8.0. This mark is the 16th best in the country.
- Tullis also is No. 2 in the conference and 14th in the nation for rebounds per game as she averages 12 a night.
- The Bobcats are leading the conference in turnover margin, while sitting 38th in the nation in the statistic. The team is averaging a 7.33 ratio.
- Texas State is fourth in the Sun Belt and 24th in the nation for offensive rebounds per game, averaging 17.7 a night.
WHATS ON THE HORIZON?
- Before starting conference play on Dec. 30 versus Georgia Southern, the Bobcats have a tough 12-game non-conference schedule to get them prepared.
- Following this weeks game with Sam Houston, the Bobcats will play at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and UTSA. Then the Bobcats will host UNT Dallas.
- Texas State will go to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma State in a road match on Dec. 9 before hosting Denver on Dec. 14 in a week of out-of-state matchups.
- To close the non-conference slate, the Bobcats will participate in the Florida International Christmas Tournament from Dec. 18-20. The Bobcats will see FIU, Chicago State and Alabama A&M in that tournament.
Up next the Bobcats will head to Corpus Christi for its road opener with Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Sunday, Nov. 26. The game is at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
