HOUSTON, Texas – With nearly 20 Bobcats competing in their first indoor meet of the season, Texas State track and field completed its stint at the Houston Invitational on Friday with four top-five finishes.
Â
Mathilde Canet (women's high jump; 4th),
Melanie Duron (women's shot put; 3rd),
Elisabet Runarsdottir (women's weight throw; 4th), and
Chris Preddie (men's long jump; 3rd) all finished in the top-five of their respective events.
Â
"Houston provided a great opportunity for many of our athletes to either open up or to work on areas of their events," said Texas State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country John Frazier. "I am proud of my team's continued preparation for our conference championship."
Preddie, a freshman from Little River Academy, Texas, finished third in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.18 meters/23-6.75 and then sixth in the men's triple jump. He was two centimeters shy of his PR in the triple jump as he posted a mark of 14.56 meters/47-9.25 on Friday.
Â
Texas State also finished with 4 PRs in the meet.
Â
The Bobcats will return to competition on Friday, February 3 with the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque.
