Wynn Tabbed as Sun Belt Athlete of the Week

Redshirt senior set two school records at the Red Raider Open

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Following her record-breaking performance the Red Raider Open, redshirt senior Sedrickia Wynn was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 23, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
 
Wynn set the school records in the women's 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles in Lubbock on January 20, breaking a two-year-old and six-year-old record, respectively. She ran 7.33 in the first round of the 60-meter dash to set the all-time Texas State mark and then ran 7.35 in the finals to finish third at the meet. In the 60-meter hurdles, she ran a school-best 8.14 in the finals – after running 8.28 in the first round which was the school record for a couple hours.
 
Out of Conyers, Georgia, Wynn has reset the school record in the women's 60-meter hurdles in each of the two indoor meets so far this season and holds the top-three times in program history. Overall, she has four of the top-five fastest times in the 60-meter hurdles.
 
She has also registered three of the top-eight times in the women's 60-meter dash in school history this year, including the top two times last weekend.
 
Wynn currently holds three Texas State records, including as part of the 4x100 outdoor women's relay.
 
Wynn is the second Bobcat to earn a conference athlete of the week award this season. Dominick Yancy was named the men's track athlete of the week on January 18.
 
This week's honor is the first weekly award for Wynn in her career.
 
Texas State will compete this week in the Houston Invitational on Friday. Field events start at 11 am while the running events start at 3:30 pm.
