SAN MARCOS, Texas – Five Bobcats earned a total of seven All-America honors at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field, with
Alyssa Wilson earning three accolades on her own.
Wilson along with
Bervensky Pierre,
Dominick Yancy,
Daniel Harrold and
Ashton Callahan were officially honored with All-America honors from the USTFCCCA on Monday.
The men's 4x100 relay team of Pierre, Yancy, Harrold and Callahan earned All-America honorable mention after placing 22nd in the event. It was the first time all four Bobcats competed at the outdoor national championships in their careers.
Wilson, meanwhile, was named a first team All-American in the hammer, second team All-American in the discus, and All-America honorable mention in the shot put.
The graduate student finished 2022 with 14 All-America awards in her career as well as another two honorable mention nods. She has been named first team eight times and second team four times. In 2020, she earned All-American awards following the pandemic-shortened indoor season but there were no first or second team distinctions made as the indoor national championships were not held that season.
In the hammer throw, Wilson has been named a first team All-American three times in four years' worth of competition.
Wilson will compete in the hammer throw at the 2022 USATF National Championships in Eugene on June 23 at 5 pm PT/7 pm CT.
