SAN MARCOS, TX — On Friday, June 10, Texas State women's basketball head coach
Zenarae Antoine announced the addition of Morgan Hill to the Bobcats' program.
Hill, a 6-foot-3 forward, comes to San Marcos following a stint at Trinity Valley (TX) Community College, where she transferred after originally signing with ULM out of Cypress Creek High School in Houston, Texas.
Hill becomes the third addition to the Texas State women's basketball program this offseason following the addition of SEMO transfer Taelour Pruitt and the arrival of high school signee Kennedy Claybrooks.
"We are excited to welcome Morgan into out Bobcat family," Antoine said. "She brings a dynamic element to the basketball floor that will help our program on both ends. Her length, size and athletic abilities give us an additional edge to our forward group."
As a true freshman during the 2020-21 season, Hill averaged 3.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per game in 22 appearances with the Warhawks. She was credited with her first career collegiate double-double with a career-high 16 points — on 7-of-11 shooting — and a career-high 10 rebounds and two blocks in a career-high 27 minutes against Louisiana on Feb. 13, 2021. Two days earlier, she scored 11 points and brought down eight rebounds against the Ragin' Cajuns.
Hill's first career collegiate double-figure game was a 10-point outing — highlighted by a 6-for-7 performance at the free throw line — with two rebounds, a block and a steal against Louisiana College on Dec. 6, 2020.
While at Cypress Creek, Hill helped her team to a 41-1 record and the Texas Class 6A state championship game as a senior. She averaged 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds, while scoring in double figures in 20 games and surpassed the 20-point mark on four different occasions. As a junior, Hill was named first team all-district after averaging 8.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game and helping her team to a 36-4 record and the Texas Class 6A state semifinals.
"Morgan will be an incredible pickup for the Bobcats," said Cypress Creek head coach Jennifer Alexander. "Her ability to impact the ball on both sides of the floor with her athleticism, length and high motor will be fun to watch. We are so proud of Morgan and can't wait to see her growth at Texas State!"
"Morgan Hill is a high-energy player with great size who runs the floor," said Houston Skyrise coach Nolan Capra, Hill's AAU head coach. "She is a long and athletic and uses her size very well. She controls the rebounds and is a difference maker. She has a lot in her tank and is ready to break out."
