SAN MARCOS, Texas – The regular season comes to an end this weekend as 13th-ranked Texas State (41-11, 23-4 Sun Belt) travels to take on Georgia State (30-23, 15-12 Sun Belt) at the GSU Baseball Complex. Both Thursday and Friday will see first pitch at 5 p.m. CT and Saturday's finale is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT.

The Bobcats moved up in the Collegiate Baseball (#10), D1Baseball (#13), NCBWA (#11) and USA Today (#17) polls, while holding steady in the Baseball America (#16) and Perfect Game (#24) polls.

SUN BELT REGULAR SEASON TITLE
This past Sunday saw Texas State claim at least a share of the Sun Belt Conference regular season title, its second in the last three full seasons. To claim the title outright, the Bobcats need to win once or Georgia Southern drop a game this weekend.

Pacing the Bobcats at the plate is
Dalton Shuffield, who was named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Tuesday. The senior shortstop is hitting .397 with 79 hits, 71 runs scored, 44 RBI, 18 doubles, 12 home runs, 14 stolen bases and five triples.
Jose Gonzalez leads the squad with 52 RBI while recording a .307 average, 13 doubles and nine homers. Also batting over .300 is
Peyton Lewis (.306) and
Justin Thompson (.340).
John Wuthrich leads the Bobcats with 13 home runs and also with double-digit round trippers is
Wesley Faison with 10.

Taking the mound on Thursday is
Zeke Wood, who is 6-1 with a 3.20 ERA and a team-high 75 strikeouts while allowing opponents to hit just .168 off him.
Levi Wells gets the ball on Friday and enters with a 6-1 record, 2.76 ERA and 68 strikeouts over 71.2 innings. Slated for Sunday is
Tony Robie. The right-hander comes in at 3-0 and sporting a 5.12 ERA and has struck out 38.

Leading the nation in saves is
Tristan Stivors with 15. His total is also the most ever by a TXST hurler in a campaign. Helping get to Stivors out of the bullpen is
Triston Dixon. He sports an 8-0 record, 2.79 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 58 innings spanning 25 games. Also making 20 relief appearances has been
Matthew Nicholas (1-1, 2.40 ERA), who has pitched in 21 contests.

ABOUT GEORGIA STATE
GSU enters the weekend coming off a sweep on the road against Arkansas State. The Panthers are currently sits in sixth place in the conference standings, two games ahead of Troy while sitting a game back of South Alabama and two behind Louisiana. GSU is 19-8 at home with an 8-4 record in conference play that includes sweeps over Little Rock and the Jaguars.

Cameron Jones leads the Panthers with a .369 batting average and 72 hits. He has also scored 38 times, driven in 29, hit 12 doubles and swiped 11 bases. Max Ryerson has hit a Sun Belt leading 21 homers while hitting .338 with 59 RBI, 44 runs scored and 16 doubles. Driving in 36 and 35 runs, respectively, is Luke Boynton (.356, 11 HR) and Griffin Cheney (.344, 15 HR).

Starting on the rubber in the series opener will be Trey Horton. The right-hander has struck out a team best 50 in 47.2 innings while going 2-1 with a 3.97 ERA. Mason Patels (2-2, 2.66 ERA) gets the ball on Friday and slated to begin the contest on Saturday will be left-hander Brandon Kaminer (1-1, 3.76 ERA).

The Panthers have recorded a conference leading 17 saves with nine being earned by Ryan Watson (1-3, 4.00 ERA). Picking up fives saves has been Jones (2-3, 2.45 ERA) while Chad Treadway (4-0, 3.41 ERA) has two and Duncan Lutz (2-1, 6.88 ERA) comes in with a save. Seth Clark has made 20 appearances out of the pen and has gone 5-0 with a 3.56 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 30.1 innings.

SERIES VS. PANTHERS
Texas State leads the all-time series 13-8. Last season saw GSU sweep the series in San Marcos and have won four of the last five games. The Bobcats' last win was on May 5, 2019 at Bobcat Ballpark that ended by run-rule in the eighth by a 12-2 score.

When facing the Panthers on the road, TXST is 5-1 all-time. The last time the teams met in Atlanta in 2018 saw the Bobcats sweep the series.
