SAN MARCOS, Texas – A trip down I-35 is on tap for 17th-ranked Texas State (32-9) as it takes on rival UTSA (27-13) on Tuesday at Roadrunner Field with first pitch at 6 p.m. The Bobcats enter the game on a 9-game winning streak, the fifth longest in program history.

Dalton Shuffield, the new program leader in career triples, comes in hitting .393 with 60 hits, 52 runs scored, 33 RBI, 14 doubles, seven home runs and five triples.
Justin Thompson comes in batting .353 with 40 runs and 32 RBI. Also hitting over .300 is
Isaiah Ortega-Jones at .313.
John Wuthrich leads TXST with 12 home runs and both he and
Jose Gonzalez have driven in 37 runs.

Trevis Sundgren. The right-hander is 2-4 with a 6.23 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. He will be making his first midweek start since Apr. 5 at Texas A&M.

Tristan Stivors paces the Sun Belt Conference with nine saves. The senior right-hander is 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 19 appearances. Also coming out of the bullpen 19 times has been

Triston Dixon leads the team with seven wins and has struck out 45 in 43 innings.

UTSA is coming off a weekend sweep of FIU at home and have won 14 of its last 17 games. The Roadrunners are 7-2 in midweek games with both losses coming on the road. When playing at home, they are 16-3 with two losses to Louisiana Tech (Mar. 18-19) and one to Southern (Mar. 5).

Eight players are hitting over .300 led by Shane Sirdashney at .357. Leyton Barry has a team-high 56 hits while batting .348 with 35 runs, 26 RBI and 11 doubles. Jonathan Tapia has scored 44 times, driven in 36 and hit five homers. Ian Bailey has recorded a team-high 10 home runs while Chase Keng has a team best 42 RBI.

Ryan Ward gets the start against the Bobcats for the second straight meeting. The right-hander is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 12 innings over eight games including three starts. Last Tuesday saw him allow a run on two hits and walks while striking out three in 1.2 innings.

Daniel Shafer has picked up five saves while going 3-1 with a 3.29 ERA and striking out 38 in 27.1 innings over 16 games. Also making double-digit relief appearances has been Ryan Beaird (1-1, 6.11 ERA), Grant Miller (1-0, 9.20 ERA) and Simon Miller (2-3, 4.50 ERA).

SERIES VS. ROADRUNNERS
Texas State leads the all-time series 61-37 and are winners of four of the last five meetings. This past Tuesday saw the Bobcats claim a 14-12 victory in San Marcos. Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with five RBI and a home run.

Last time the teams met in San Antonio was Apr. 30, 2019 with UTSA winning 8-5. TXST's last win in the Alamo City came on Mar. 5, 2019 by an 8-3 score. The Bobcats sport a 26-19 record when facing the Roadrunners on the road.
